On 9th Cloud

NOTE: If you are new to my blog, you can subscribe to RSS feed.

Yup, that’s what those guys must be feeling who are into “cloud computing” and making it bigger  :)

I see “cloud computing” as one of the hottest technologies for 2010 and for at least next few years after that. It will have huge impact on how we use computers and how we perform day to day  tasks on computers. It is changing fundamental method of “computing”.

Simple Definition, big impact

Cloud computing is Internet-based computing, whereby shared resources, software and information are provided to computers and other devices on-demand.

Each word within above definition is important. However, in my opinion, one word is most impactful. It is already changing the way we do computing and will change the way we live. The word is “On-demand”. In software world, one aspect of such “on-demand” service is referred as “Software Available As Service (SaaS)”. Saas is happening phenomenon in  technology world. And it is only going to grow.

Amazon, Google and Microsoft being leaders in Cloud computing, there are many other providers in market and even more to follow in future.

Cloud computing could be one of the most efficient way of handling intensive computing tasks. After all, old saying of “It takes five fingers make a powerful fist” is very true. More the merrier! Grid of computers lending their power of computing can do wonders. It is true teamwork.

No wonder, Gartner Research named it the most strategic technology for 2010
